Yep, I’m back from Myanmar and getting over the jet lag and the cold I picked up on the plane as well. I’m back to hiking and tonight thought I’d have a bit of fun with this. The second tutorial of a new game that’s based on a classic old one.
I’ve been in|Yangon for a week now and wanted to do an update. Since I can’t log in on my computer this is being done on my phone. We’ll see how it goes.
Helpful Travel Tip #1: Always know where you are going before you get there. I learned this lesson again a week ago.
When I finally arrived in Yangon I went thru passport control, got my luggage etc. While doing this I kept looking for the people who were going to pick me up. Couldn’t see them but thought surely they’re there right?
Turns out I was wrong.
So I did what any sane person would do. After looking all around I waited. It seemed like a long wait but was probably only 15 minutes.
Got tired of it and decided to grab a taxi since I had the card of the hotel we’ve used for the past couple of years and had been assured we’d be probably be staying there (wise readers already see where this is going).
The price was OUTRAGEOUS for Myanmar but after a lot of arguing I finally took it. Off we went into gridlock heaven which is Yangon streets these days. Finally we got to the hotel, I paid the robber his ransom and more since he couldn’t make change and I was too tired to mess around.
Into the hotel only to discover we were not booked there. Had them call James but no answer.
Now what? Got another taxi, at a rational price this time and off to James place we went.
Happily Marta was there. Turns out the guys coming to get me had been delayed. They finally showed up and of again to another hotel, this time the right one.
So kiddies always know where you’re going before you get there.
Later today (Saturday) we have a big graduation ceremony to take part in. You won’t believe what I look like on this robe. Picture humiliation later.
