I Want To Go Here Someday

Here’s a place I’d love to see someday. Probably won’t get there, but it would be soooo cool!

A Bit of Audio From Dad’s Book

I haven’t been putting up anything here about my gaming because I know most aren’t interested. However below you’ll find my latest video embedded because of a computer glitch and what followed.

My little laptop has been having trouble with my video recording of late. Not sure what’s going on and I hope it’s not reaching the point where I’ll need to get a new one! Yuck on that!

I’m playing a scenario the US Marine invasion and liberation of Guam. My father was a part of that battle and writes about it in his book, Once A Raider. So when the audio of the first eight or nine minutes of the video was completely unacceptable I decided to delete that part and do a voice over.

Instead of just rambling about the game I chose to read a couple of excerpts Dad wrote about his experience in the first day and evening of the battle. He played an important role in that battle for Hill 40.

If you’d like to hear a little bit about that you can listen below. If you’d like to check out the book on Amazon just click here.

Tigers on the Hunt – Kursk DLC

This is a short review of a very long game – the new Tigers on the Hunt DLC which covers parts of the Battle of Kursk.

At first it doesn’t sound very big, after all it only covers three battles – Psel Bridgehead, Slaughter of  Prokhorovka , and finally Bled White. But since these are each at least 3 day battles and each day is 12 turns, well you can see it all adds up.

They’ve changed the scale of the game from each turn being minutes to about 2 hours each. So there’s 8 turns of daylight and 4 night time turns. But inspite of this the game plays the same and so far – I haven’t gotten to any night turns yet – plays very well.

It’s great to see this game getting plugged into some historical situations and of course there’s few things larger or more important than the Battle of Kursk.

My video introduction is below as well as the first video of playing through the whole thing! A big undertaking but one that I’m enjoying. If you are at all into this kind of thing I highly recommend you pick up this little beauty. Just remember, this is an add on so you have to own Tigers on the Hunt for this to work.

Thank you Matrix Games for the free review copy.

02 Strategic Command WIE – Toe Hold In England

Believe it or not I’ve actually managed to grab a toe hold in England! So Sea Lion has happened but will it succeed? And will I ever post anything on this blog again other than Wargame stuff?

The beginning of the answer to the first question is below, to answer the second you’ll just have to stay tuned!

03 Strategic Command WIE – Reinforced & Realigned

Here’s go with another of my SC WIE play through – enjoy!

Also, I found a great article explaining how supply and HQ’s work in this game. I playtested this thing and learn several things I didn’t know (might help if I would read the rules huh?), so if you play SC you really ought to read this.

Article here.
